Marquette, MI – November 23, 2022 – Last night, Marquette Township lit up the big Christmas Tree to celebrate the coming of the holiday seasons! From 6-9 pm, people from all around came down to the Westwood Mall Parking Lot to watch the Tree Lighting Ceremony and met Santa in the mall. Walt Lindala and Mark Evans emceed the event.
The event kicked off with a performance by Studio Dance Arts’ students on the stage.
The performance was cut short by the Grinch, eager as always to steal Christmas. Fortunately, the Sheriff was ever at the ready and captured the Grinch before he could steal Christmas! Once the Grinch was arrested and taken away, Santa arrived with the fire department. Together with the crowd, counting down from ten, Santa lit up the tree to kick off the season!
After the tree was lit, everyone headed down together to the Westwood mall where Super One Foods of Marquette provided food and drinks to help warm up everybody. In the mall, Santa took pictures with the kids and his little helper passed out candy to all the kids, courtesy of Jet’s Pizza and Walmart.
Thanks also to Studio Dance, Rusty Bowers Entertainment, Lions International, Marquette Township Business Association, mediaBrew Communications, and the Westwood Mall for making this possible.
