Honor Credit Union Unveils New Marquette Member Center

MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – JUNE 27, 2024 – It was a beautiful day as Honor Credit Union celebrated the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new Marquette Member Center on Thursday, June 27th. Located at 105 CR 492 Marquette, MI 49855, about a mile west of the former location, the Honor team enthusiastically welcomed guests to experience their new building.

Spanning nearly 6,000 square feet, the enhanced space stands as a comprehensive member center. It includes a regional training center for internal team members, a spacious community area, known as the 906 Connect Space, with a functional kitchen available for reservations, coin machines, night deposit services, and expanded drive-thru hours featuring ATMs equipped with video teller technology.

Honor’s CEO, Scott McFarland, and Marquette’s Member Center Manager, Christy Smith, began the celebration by warmly welcoming everyone in attendance, including Honor Board Members Randy O’Neil and Paige Eagan.

“As we cut the ribbon today, we will not be just opening the doors to a new facility but also new opportunities, prosperity, and a brighter future for our community,” Christy Smith shared. “Together, we will continue to build a strong foundation of trust, support, and mutual success. Thank you for being a part of this special day, and welcome to your new Honor Member Center.”

McFarland reflected on the legacy of the credit union serving Marquette, noting its evolution from the long-standing Superior Iron Range Credit Union to the Honor Credit Union of today. “We take it very seriously, and we take a lot of pride in that,” he said. He reminded everyone that the members walking through the door are the heart of the credit union, emphasizing the unique, member-focused nature of Honor.

The project’s success highlights the collaborative efforts of the community and supportive partners like Marquette Township, who played a crucial role in realizing this vision, and Closner Construction and Integrated Designs who aided in bringing the build to life. McFarland praised the dedication and hard work of the Honor team members, with special recognition for Megan Hendrix, Chief Operating Officer, and her team, who diligently turned plans and blueprints into a remarkable reality.

The celebration was further honored by the presence of a representative from Congressman Bergman’s office, Jodie Ouelette, acknowledging the Congressman’s ongoing advocacy for credit unions. “We couldn’t do it without the help of Congress to stay not-for-profit. We do think differently, and it’s recognized,” McFarland expressed with gratitude.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked a momentous milestone for Honor Credit Union, signifying not only the opening of a new chapter but also a commitment to sustained growth and dedicated service to the Marquette community for many years to come. Honor looks forward with excitement to the opportunities and collaborations that lie ahead, as they continue to strive to build a stronger, more resilient community together.
