Marquette, Michigan – March 16, 2016 – Congratulations to Todd Noordyk and Great Lakes Radio for being awarded Station of the Year for their Adult Contemporary station, Sunny.FM.
Sunny.FM received nine awards from the MAB Broadcast Excellence Awards, and then received a tenth honor: the Market 4 Station of the Year award!
Each year broadcasters throughout Michigan submit their work to the MAB Broadcast Excellence Awards program. Broadcasters compete against a standard of excellence established by MAB that showcases “the best of the best” in Michigan broadcasting.
The prestigious Station of the Year award is based on the total cumulative points for ALL awards won by a station, with additional points added for weighted category wins.
Sunny.FM took Best Of in these six categories:
- Breaking News Story
- Feature Programming
- Feature/Use of Medium*
- Investigative Story
- Morning Show Broadcast Personality or Team*
- Newscast*
and was awarded Merit in the following categories:
- Community Involvement*
- Play-by-Play Sports
- Weekend Broadcast Personality
*Denotes weighted categories that the Station of the Year was based upon.
Owner and General Manager of Great Lakes Radio, Inc., Todd Noordyk accepted the award in Lansing and said the award showcased the talents and teamwork of staff in many departments throughout the close-knit, family-owned and operated station.
“I am very happy to win Station of the Year,” Noordyk said, “but I am also truly pleased we were recognized in so many different categories.”
Noordyk also noted that the award he is most proud of is the one for Community Involvement. Great Lakes Radio is a locally owned and operated group of stations with staff that lives right here in Marquette County.
