Kurt and Jess Peterson of Negaunee recognized a huge gap in the UP in terms of providing a high quality, low cost, male-centric place to get a haircut. Nationwide barbershops are closing, almost to the point of extinction, and have only been replaced with a growing number of beauty salons for women. What’s left for the other half of the population?
The Guys’ Place closes this gap, catering to all boys and men – and even women. At The Guys’ Place, all customers are treated to a comfortable and relaxing waiting area complete with large leather club chairs, a big-screen TV, free coffee, tea, water and shelled peanuts, and over 20 different “guy” magazines ranging from hunting to fishing to sports to cars/trucks/ATV’s, and more! They even have coloring books and magazines just for kids!
The Guys’ Place is more than just a place to get a quality haircut, it’s an entire experience. Gone are the offensive beauty salon smells. No more people watching you get your hair cut, beard trimmed, grey hair blended out, or brows, ears, or nose waxed. No more listening to beauticians talking to each other about their personal lives instead of focusing on you! Instead, each customer will be greeted by an experienced and enthusiastic stylist and walked to his private station where he can watch anything he wants on his own flat screen HD TV and charge his phone with the built-in USB outlets and provided chargers.
The experience continues with personal and friendly attention to you the customer and a custom cut by a professional stylist specializing in men’s cuts, styles and fashions. Included with every haircut is an in-station hair wash, conditioning and scalp massage, a hot towel face wrap, hair product and styling, and a neck and shoulder massage. After your service is completed to your satisfaction, the stylists can recommend just the right product to take home, all of which are geared towards men’s hair care and styling needs. And between haircut visits, you can come in anytime without the need for an appointment for a free neck trim! You get all of these great experiences and services, for just $14 cash.
The Guys’ Place franchise started just 11 years ago in DePere, Wisconsin, and has grown to more than 40 stores in 9 states, mostly in the Midwest. The Marquette store is the first franchise in the state of Michigan, with more stores planning on opening this year. In just the first 4 months of being open, The Guys’ Place has donated thousands of dollars to organizations and charities in the area and are active members of multiple organizations and philanthropies.
They are open 7 days a week; Monday through Thursday from 9am to 8pm, Friday 9am to 7pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 2pm.
