Marquette Township, MI – September 15, 2015 – The Marquette Township Business Association met during the lunch hour today at Perkins of Marquette. This is the organization’s first meeting since incorporating in June of this year as a non-profit corporation.
As a newly incorporated organization, the first order of business was the re-election of board members and executive board members. The MTBA adopted new bylaws and discussed a number of housekeeping issues related to the recent incorporation.
Township officials at the meeting shared their knowledge and insight with the board on many current issues relevant to township businesses and residents. The MTBA remains a conduit to township officials with both the Treasurer and Planning & Zoning Administrator presenting monthly at the meetings.
Township Board Treasurer Ernie Johnson’s report included tax information, budget planning sessions, the improvements at Lions Field, the plan for road improvement in the township, the old township hall, changes in board membership, and an update on the Dark Store situation.
Township Planning & Zoning Administrator Jason McCarthy talked about the stellar opening for Dairy Queen, the progression of the road project, new ordinances that passed, the overhaul of the township website, the 2019 US 41 corridor project, and new businesses that are considering a move to the township.
