Marquette Township, MI  –  December 7, 2015  –  Santa Claus is coming to Marquette Township tomorrow night to bring Christmas Cheer and help everyone Catch the Christmas Spirit thanks to all the local businesses who pitch in every year to make this event happen.
This year we’ve got another Marquette Township tree donated by resident Jim O’Dovero. This majestic tree stands 33 feet tall and will be very visible from the highway when lit. Special thanks to Rusty Bowers and his son for taking care of the appearances of Santa and the Grinch and also to the Marquette Township Fire Department and the firemen that “fly” Santa on the fire truck to the big stage.
Local businesses stepped forward to donate goodies for the event. Landon at Biggby Coffee provided hot coffee for township residents to warm up with, Super One Foods of Marquette donated cookies and apple juice, and Ross at Honor Credit Union popped a bunch of delicious popcorn for the Honor team to distribute at the event.
Ellen at the Westwood Mall did a great job once again – the mall is a beautiful place to take pictures of Santa and warm up after the tree lighting. Township business owner Todd Noordyk provided the stage and Christmas music from the Gift 106.1 FM. Luke Noordyk who works in the township and is a personality on Sunny.FM afternoons spearheaded the setup and lighting of the tree. Jan Brodersen is bringing the Marquette Chorale to sing Christmas Carols on the big Great Lakes Radio stage again.
Many thanks to Township Manager Randy Girard, the Marquette Township Board, and employees of the fastest growing township in Michigan for making it the best place to live, work, and play.
